Whether it is designing a property from the ground up, or breathing new life into an existing home, we are here to make the process seamless.

We offer an integrated approach to the process so we can be as hands on as our clients would like. Drawing on our years of experience and valuable network of industry professionals, we pride ourselves on delivering a superior client experience that is not only efficient, but offers peace of mind with a premium design.

The Design Remedy provides interior design, project consultation and design management services locally throughout the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, including South West Rocks, Crescent Head, Port Macquarie and The Hastings, Harrington and Taree. Interior design and project consultation is also available nationwide.

Meredy Bates-Lacey

Meredy Bates-Lacey is the principal Interior Designer with over 18 years in the industry. After earning her Bachelor of Interior Design in 2004 from the University of Canberra, she has worked for boutique design firms and construction companies to achieve the design goals of each client.

Over the course of the last three years, Meredy expanded her own vision, building The Design Remedy from the ground up with a goal to help clients find solutions to their interior design challenges. With first-hand experience in Project Management for large scale custom homes and a profound love of renovations, her wide range of knowledge helps clients easily navigate their way through the construction process.

THE VISION

We’ll help you dream up ideas for a beautiful home that suits your tastes, needs and lifestyle. We have our clients share as much information and inspiration as possible while we review the floor plans to familiarise the team with the layout. Together, we'll work through a design exploration process to determine your tastes and needs that we want to bring into your home design.

THE DESIGN

Once we have your vision established, we’ll carefully consider each space within your home, it's potential and its limitations. We take the stress out of decision making, helping you through design selections. You can lean on us as we guide you through the review of floor plans, design selections and contractor choices to get your house ready for building to begin.

THE EXECUTION

Take the hassle out of your building process with our Design Management Service, streamlining the construction experience for both you and the builder. We look after the smallest of details, complete regular site visits and liase with everyone involved to ensure execution is on point.

Project Consultation

If you find yourself wishing you could just bounce some ideas off a designer, or get a second opinion on your floor plan or fittings and fixtures, our Project Consultation Sessions can help you do that. Consider this an “ask us anything” opportunity! We’ll meet for 1.5 hours and provide you with any guidance you need.

Our services include spatial planning, concept creation, design selection, kitchen and bathroom design, joinery design, 3D concept planning, review of architectural and building design.

Project Management

We draw upon 18+ years of experience working alongside architects, designers and building contractors to not only help you create the visual aesthetics of your home, but also focus on floor plans and layout prior to construction, and the design execution during construction so your home feels and functions as good as it looks.

One of the biggest challenges that the client, designer and builder can face during the construction process is keeping track of all the information, selections, inevitable variations and budgets that are part and parcel of each project.

At The Design Remedy we use an online cloud based Studio that our clients can login to 24/7 and are able to access everything relating to their project. You don’t have to worry about scrolling back through endless emails to find a quote or plan revision, all of your documents, designs and communications are in one central hub.
